Made in Britain
  • An open fronted nest box; the perfect size for robins, wrens and pied wagtails.
  • Unique robust long lasting construction; recycled plastic outer shell with wooden internal nesting chamber.
  • Designed in the UK by professional ecologists.
  • Easy to check and clean; the nesting chamber simply slides out.

This Eco Robin Box combines the best properties of recycled plastic and wood to create a unique and innovative box that will last for years whilst providing a comfortable bird nest box. The robin box is an open fronted nest box. As well as providing a suitable nest box for robins, it’s also ideal for other birds that use open fronted boxes such as wrens, pied wagtails and spotted flycatchers.

The box consists of a weatherproof outer shell made from UV stabilised 100% recycled plastic. Inside the outer shell is a wooden nesting chamber to provide the ideal environment for birds to nest in. The outer shell has been precision cut and uses an ingenious system of tabs to hold it together. This further extends the lifespan ensuring that there are no fixings holding the weatherproof shell together that could rust or degrade over time. Internally there is a removable wooden nesting chamber with drainage holes for the birds to nest in. This is constructed from FSC Certified Oriented Strand Board, which is made from flakes obtained from wood waste or from saplings thinned from forests to make space for larger trees. If you need to check or clean the box it’s simply a case of twisting the fastening at the bottom and the wooden nesting chamber slides out.

Fixing to the wall or tree is easy, with three concealed mounting holes in the back of the box. Often this is the only fixing needed, but a further hole is provided at the base for use when necessary.

nature first since 1996

We aim for our boxes to provide the best accommodation for wildlife and our primary concern with all our products is that they should be designed appropriately for their target species.

Our boxes replicate as far as possible the conditions which are found in natural nest and roost sites.

designed by experts

Before we design any box we consider the requirements of the proposed inhabitants through reviews of published studies and consultation with experts in their field.

Combined with our experience of designing and manufacturing boxes and customer feedback we produce what we hope are boxes which offer the best accommodation for wildlife.

During the development of our products we are grateful to have received input of various kinds from many sources including, amongst others, the RSPB, the Barn Owl Trust, the University of Warwick, ZSL London Zoo, Staffordshire University, the Bat Conservation Trust, Aston University, the People's Trust for Endangered Species, Coventry University and the British Hedgehog Preservation Society.

made in britain

We started making nest boxes in 1996 based in a shed in Herefordshire. Since then, we’ve grown in size to become one of the largest producers of roost, nest, and wildlife boxes in the UK.

The Nestbox Company is run by father and sons; Peter, Tristan and Damian.

We manufacture our products in our own rural workshops, and combine modern production technology, with traditional hand finishing.
